How to Tie the Double Fisherman’s Knot. In this video I show you how to tie the double fisherman’s knot. This is essentially a pair of double overhand knots that are tied over each other in order to join two ropes together. This has two very useful purposes. First, and this is my primary purpose for this, is that it can be used to join two ends of cord together to form a prussic knot. I like to back my mechanical devices up with rope, and a prussic is the best knot for this. I also use it as part of an adjustable bridge on my hunting saddles. Secondly, it can be used to join two lengths of rope together in order to make a longer rope for rappeling or climbing.

Although this can be an intimidating knot to tie at first, with a little practice it can be done easily and efficiently. Good luck!
